After a brief hiatus — thanks COVID! — the Weldon Revitalization project resumed in the early part of 2020. This stage of the project involved finalizing mechanical and construction details, and confirming construction documents to put out for bid. While this sounds highly technical, it’s nothing more than pooling all our separate planning details together to form a single package that we send to potential vendors. It’s kind of like applying for a job, but instead of submitting a cover letter and resume, we submit drawings, specifications, and procurement requirements.
In November, we submitted our documents to several construction companies and gave them a chance to bid for the Weldon project. Construction is anticipated to begin in January 2021 starting with staff space on the fifth floor.
